Ordnance Survey is an organization dedicated to surveying the land and creating accurate and up-to-date geographic data, relied on by government, business and individuals. Since its inception (mapping the Southern Coast of England to repel invasion over 200 years ago), it has developed into a dynamic, self-financing £140-million-a-year civilian organization that produces both paper maps and digital mapping products and services.
But Ordnance Survey added to its offerings in 2009 when it launched a new program called the GeoVation challenge, which awards seed funding to sustainable business ventures that utilize geographical data. They employed IdeaScale to host their latest round of challenges.
