As part of the U.S. Department of Labor’s (USDOL) efforts to support American workers and position the economy for a strong rebound, USDOL hosted an IdeaScale national online dialogue to solicit ideas about challenges that may be faced as businesses reopen and how best to help employers and workers reopen America’s workplaces safely. The dialogue “Opening America’s Workplaces Again” was the second dialogue USDOL hosted in the wake of COVID-19. The 509 ideas from the Opening America’s Workplaces Again National Online Dialogue, along with the more than one thousand ideas from the first dialogue, Providing Expanded Family and Medical Leave to Employees Affected by COVID-19 National Online Dialogue on the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, played a crucial role in informing USDOL’s rapid public policy response and helped secure safer workplaces in these exceptional times.
On July 14th, we heard from the team responsible for deploying and supporting the USDOL’s COVID-19 public dialogues. Learn about best practices they implemented that allowed them to quickly generate interest from the public, to effectively moderate ongoing discussions, and to identify promising ideas and comments in real-time in order to inform USDOL leadership and support swiftly moving public policy discussions.
