Title says a lot.

I'd like to be able to delete all unused busses in a session from within the I/O setup window to quickly clean up the I/O setup and see only those busses used in my session.

Fix Midi Bugs!!!

1

Vote On Idea

There is a bug in Midi Editor ... Even after quantizing notes (at full strength), or inputting notes in Grid modes, some notes are minutely fractionally off grid.. This causes serious problems! Especially in the edit window when trimming, moving, deleting, etc midi region (e.g. If you delete a midi region a note at the beginning of the following midi region gets deleted too because a tiny bit of it is in the other region)... I stress this is after quantizing and inputting notes manually in Grid mode..... Huge bug which I (and many others) have brought to Avids attention on the forums and still have seen no sign of a fix!

Comments (0) Bugs, bugs, midi, quantize, grid

Rewind to Loop Point beginning

0

Vote On Idea

I think it would be useful to have a rewind option (like in other DAWS) where (if you have loop points set up)

"Press Enter Once" - To Rewind to the beginning loop point

"Press Enter Twice" - This rewinds to project beginning

Static Loop Points

0

Vote On Idea

I think the way loop brackets work in other DAWs (e.g. Ableton, Sonar etc) is far more practical and efficient than PT. For example when you set up loop points i these DAWs they are remain static unless you want to specifically re-size or move them, and then you can enable or disable them with a simple key command or tool button click. The advantage of this is you don't have to keep bringing your cursor up to the dynamic transport bar every time you wish to start playback from a different point within (or outside of) the loop points you have set, instead you can just drop the cursor anywhere within the edit window and the loop points you set stay in tact. In Pro Tools when you do this, it disables the loop points you set. I think this is really awkward, annoying and inefficient when it comes to work flow.

Comments (1) Ease of Use, loop tool, playback

As far as I can see, the only way to set a group of tracks to a specific output is by pressing "option" (Mac) and selecting the desired output/buss on the track. Unfortunately, this changes them ALL. I'd like to be able to select for example, all my drum tracks and send them to a buss (say Bus 1-2) without sending the entire Pro Tools session to Bus 1-2.

I'm only new to PT so maybe this is a feature which just isn't activated by default, so feel free to let me know if there's a way to enable it...I'm using PT 9 M-Powered, and as it has limitations in relation to track count, it would be very useful if each track I create had a corresponding number label, so I could easily see at a glance roughly how many audio tracks (for example) I am using...

Comments (0) Features, track count

I came from Sonar to PT and one of the features it has that I think is extremely useful is being able to play 2 or several playlists simultaneously within a track... This is great feature for creating layered tracks within the same track. This was extermely useful for tons of reasons; if you want to have several vocal takes with the same set of plugins etc, less need to create more tracks/auxs, screen real estate (you could hide the layers within the track, or bounce them to a single region) etc etc

Comments (0) Features, playlists tracks comping

I think that introduced in PT HD10 fold down plugin should also support an LtRt encoding and decoding.
Since Dolby Surround Tools left as TDM only, Neyrinck SoundCode is only encoder and only TDM/RTAS and Minnetonka SurCode RTAS only, we need an AAX native + AS encoder/decoder 5.1 to LtRt / LtRt to 5.1 plugin.
I guess it should be a stock included Avid plugin. But I don't mind to pay some reasonable fee as well.

Clip Gain Breaks Nudge Functionality

7

Vote On Idea

In Pro Tools 10, the use of Clip Gain disables the ability to nudge using any value not in the nudge menu.

To reproduce this bug:

1. Manually enter a custom nudge value that isn't one of the values in the menu (say, 22ms).

2. Nudge some stuff (clips, selections, cursor -- anything), and notice that it works as expected.

3. Adjust the clip gain on any clip anywhere in the session.

4. Now nudge some more stuff (it doesn't matter if the clip you're nudging has clip gain adjustments or not). Notice that although the nudge value window reads 22ms, things are actually nudging by 500ms.

5. Undo the clip gain adjustment. Notice that it still nudges by 500ms.

6. Clear the clip gain. Notice that it still nudges by 500ms.

At this point, the only way I've found to restore normal nudge functionality is to:

7. Manually enter a nudge value that also happens to be one of the preselected values in the menu (say, 10ms).

8. Confirm that you are now able to nudge in 10ms increments.

9. Now manually enter your custom nudge value (22ms).

10. Confirm that you are now able to nudge by any value you wish.

11. Try to imagine what the clip gain feature is like and how it might improve your workflow.

I have reported this to Avid, but it may not be fixed unless enough people speak up.

I am bussing a copy of my bass guitar track (pre-fader engaged) to an Aux that has a compressor on the insert. At times, the bass guitar track will completely drop out and be replaced by a loud high pitched 'digital squeal' that sounds like a sine wave. I am not running any demo versions and have tried many different compressors on that Aux's insert. I have a kick and snare also being bussed (pre-fader as well) to the same Aux and have not had the same problem with these.

This happens on both of my hardware interfaces and I have already ordered more RAM for an upgrade I had already planned on doing.

Only has happened on PT10.

AAX Plugin Compatablilty Verification Tool

Simple. As logic runs a test on all au plugs for compatibility, this tool would do it on all AAX plugs and verify that they will work properly with protools.

The day of pulling out all your plugins to see which one causes a problem should be in the past for protools users. There should be strict standards that the tool tests and verifies a plugins complete compatibility. If they can't come up with a tool to do this then Avid themselves have no idea why certain plugs create performance problems which means they have still have a sloppy development standard.

Hi there,

I seem to have a ug in relation to 'Event Operations.' As of an hour ago, Pro tools does not wow me to process anything in event ops. It's as if it fails to recognise I've selected a region. Each time I want to quantize, transpose or change the velocity of a piece of midi, I simply cannot press the 'Apply button when I open up 'Event Operations' and try and process something.' I've tried creating new tracks, doing this with older, pre recorded bits of midi, nothing. I just can't process anything i Event Ops.........Help!!!!!

Now it doesn´t . Actually none of the waveform sizes shows the correct waveform size in a region. A normalized audio file should show its peaks perfectly aligned top to bottom. All other DAWS can do this. Now you have to boost the file 1.1 dB to "fill" the whole region. Try it yourself with a normalized sinus wave.

After having altered the clip gain of a clip, when then drawing with the pencil into the waveform, the line is not where you drawed.
I'd love a key command that lets fully expand a region.
If this exists I can't find it.
This would help me in hand syncing prod audio to my omf.
As it is I pull an omf region up to a set of blank tracks and manually open it up to it's fullest by dragging it open on both sides.
Then I pull the original prod tracks in underneath and sync
them up.
As it is I have a Quick Keys work around but it's slow.
A single quick bang keystroke would be awesome.
Please tell me this already exists. ☺

Thanks.

How many times has someone asked you, "How did you get that sound"? Or, more importantly, you've lost a sound that you spent hours creating and need to recreate it. Or, you're a detail oriented person and would like a printout of your routing setup (busses, sends, plugins etc.)

How about a history of what went into comping that hit vocal track that took a week of your time?

This addition to Pro Tools would be like the Sibelious of tracking history !

Chord Identification

Logic and GarageBand display the notes and/or chords played via a MIDI controller. I find this to be very useful and would love to see it in Pro Tools.
Additionally, if the chords were displayed as a marker throughout the edit window, that'd be awesome!

If Pro Tools would then determine the key signature and enter it into the key sig tab, that'd be cool too!

Obviously, I'm no musical theorist but this information helps me in many ways

Thanks!!!

Make pedal user assignable (for talkback)

4

Vote On Idea

Please, make the pedal input into a user assignable key command, so it can be used with a talkback plugin like the one from source elements..

Or better yet, program the talkback functionality into protools, with auto talkback and dimmer..

As it stands, talkback is kind of a problem with an artist/omni setup.

Thanks!
